Lighthouse Church of God

Vision Statement

“A Lighthouse to the World”

“A” – We realize that we are one of many instruments used by the Lord to accomplish His purposes in the world.  The “A” is there to keep us humble before the Lord and never allow a feeling of pride to enter in.  We are not “the” lighthouse, but “a” lighthouse to the world.

“LIGHTHOUSE” – Jesus said that we are to be the light of the world.  The job of a lighthouse is to shine a bright light.  A lighthouse is not needed on a bright, sunny day at the beach; but on a dark, stormy and hopeless night.  The ministry of Jesus was one of always reaching out to the sick (Matthew 4:23-24), the needy (Matthew 9:12-17, Matthew 25:35-40), the neglected (Luke 10:30-37), the sinful (John 8:1-11, 1 Timothy 1:15) and to the outcasts (John 4:7-14).  As a Lighthouse, our vision is to reach out to those who may otherwise be neglected.  A Lighthouse shines a light out into the dark stormy night to bring safety to a ship tossed to and fro by the waves.  A Lighthouse is not concerned about what kind of ship that it calls to safety, but only that it shines a bright light.  As a church, we must not be concerned or picky about who our light draws to safety.  We want to reach out to a hurting, dying, painful, sinful, abusive, and lonely generation with the message that Jesus loves and cares about them.  The ministry of the is church is to reach out to all: without regard to age (from the baby in the womb to the elderly), color, social status, mental capability, educational level, or economic background.  Our vision is to be a true Lighthouse of the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“TO” – The “to” is people.  We believe that ministry involves people helping other people.  A church does not consist of a building but of a people who love God, love one another, and love others.  In order for this church to be a Lighthouse, we must all discover our gifts and find our place of ministry in the church.  The Equipping Ministry (Pastoral Staff) is here to help you discover your gifts, develop your gifts and use your gifts for the glory of God.

“THE WORLD” – The LORD is calling us to be, “A Lighthouse to the World.”  This is not a new calling but part of His original plan for the church.  He has called us to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”  (Mark 16:15)  The pattern of the plan is that of Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."  (NKJV)  Our calling begins in St. Augustine,  extends to St. Johns County, to the United States of America and to the world.”
